Our Semester 2 Concert for 2026
A Hint of Halloween
Sydney University Musical Society (SUMS) is proud to present our upcoming concert, A Hint of Halloween, featuring works by Eric Whitacre, Pete Churchill, Jaakko Mäntyjärvi, Sally Whitwell and more.
Our programme brings together a mix of well-loved and and contemporary pieces; a gentle balance of haunting melodies in György Orbán’s Daemon Irrepit Callidus and Jaakko Mäntyjärvi’s Come Away Death, the nostalgia and comfort of Scarborough Fair arranged by Michael Higgins and Alicia Adélaide Needham’s How Dear to Me the Hour and the exciting Little Man in a Hurry by Eric Whitacre.
As well as this, our program will also feature the premiere of SUMS’ 2026 Composition Competition winner, Secret by Dean Imrie.
The SUMS Small Group will also be performing, providing a more intimate experience of music in our beautiful venue.
SUMS acknowledges and pays respect to the traditional owners of the land on which we meet (the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation). It is upon their ancestral lands that the University of Sydney is built. As we share our own knowledge, teaching, learning, and research practices within this University may we also pay respect to the knowledge embedded forever within the Aboriginal Custodianship of Country.
